ST. PAUL, Minn. – Three commodity organizations have elected new board members to serve on their research and promotion councils. The councils play an important role in coordinating the ongoing development and promotion of farm commodities and the elections provide producers a voice in how their financial contributions to the organizations are spent.
Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson says it’s important for producers to participate in the elections so their voices are heard.
"These councils help to strengthen and expand market development for agricultural commodities," said Hugoson. "I would like to thank all those who took the time to vote as well as give my appreciation to the newly-elected members for their commitment to the promotion of Minnesota agriculture."
Election results are listed for the potato, canola and dry edible bean commodity councils.
Area 1 Potato Growers Research and Promotion Council: Randy Schmidt, Clay County.
